Dr. Richard W. Smith

Dr. Smith, a native of Tiverton, Rhode Island, is currently co-director of Sports Medicine at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. A graduate of Providence College, he received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He completed both his surgical and orthopedic trainting at the University of Massachusetts in Worcester.

Dr. Smith also served in the U.S. Navy as an orthopedist at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Naples, Italy, during Operation Desert Storm, and later in Groton, CT, where he was Team Physician to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
Dr. Smith has privileges at both Charlton Memorial and provides sports medical coverage to area high schools. He coaches youth sports including soccer, basketball, and baseball.
